A Little Person

A little person crashed into my life born with a defiant rush
Instantly besotted overcome with pride amazing miracle sobbing laughter
This little wriggling redness squealing searching for comfort at the breast
Dark open eyes what do you see after suspended warmth and quiet
I search your little face whispering hello welcome
Before we raced to this place
Pacing pain courage and strength let me rub your back
Warm water soothing standing crouching let me cool your brow
Many phone calls explaining being told not yet
Trying to be stong but starting to push breathing pressured harsh
Finally calling insisting worried its too late bring the bag
Just in time
Almost forgot to breathe head bowed eyes tight two of us become three
My baby girl so very brave and strong exhilirated gazing at Her baby girl
Nothing compares little one priviledged to help with your first journey
